About Me

Hi, I’m Wilby.

I’m a little girl with a big personality.  Even though I’ve got a disability (more about that below), I don’t let that stop me. Well, you’ve got to roll with the punches, haven’t you?

Unfortunately, that’s a life lesson all us street dogs learn at a young age. And being here at LAW I’ve also learned that not all humans are scary, actually there are only kind ones here. So I’ve opened up and have let my true personality shine through. I’m not a boisterous girl, I’m way more relaxed than that.

What Makes Me Special

I’m a tripod dog. Do you know what one of those is? If not, let me tell you. It means I’ve got only three legs. I had to have my front right leg cut off after an accident (you can read what happened to me below).

It’s not ideal, of course, and I would much rather have my leg back, but I don’t let it get me down. After all, I’m still here, right? And now I have got my strength back and I’m no longer in Lanta Animal Welfare’s doggy hospital, things are looking up.

To sum it up I’m becoming what you call “an easy dog”. I’m not fussed by much now and I’m not needy. I’m pretty low maintenance, all around really.

Why am I Here at Lanta Animal Welfare?

Before I came here, I was living in a nasty shelter. Here everything is neat and tidy and there are no hidden dangers, but that was not the case where I was before. There were lots and lots of problems, and I ended up getting badly hurt.

I got my leg stuck between two slabs of concrete. I couldn’t get out and I was very scared. In the end I pulled and pulled and pulled and eventually got myself free, but I broke my leg doing it. That’s why I’ve got only three legs now. That’s very sad, isn’t it?

I try to look on the bright side of life, though, and hopefully there will be happier days ahead. I would love a nice home with people who will look after me, maybe a house with another dog and a little garden we could play in. Ah well, a girl can dream, can’t she?
